2017 - Celebrating 10 years of Versatility Ranch Horse Competitions
A little history, a few changes and an exciting season ahead!
Versatility Ranch Horse events in Arizona were few and far between until 2008 when AZVRHA was conceived. That year we produced three small events, in 2009 there were four and so it began... we have been expanding and growing each year since. AzVRHA was initially affiliated with NVRHA, an organization out of Colorado, after a few years as we grew and our goals changed both the Arizona and California affiliates began to seek a new direction.
Feeling growing pains and seeing the evolution, popularity and interest in “Ranch Horse” events explode throughout the industry, the advisors of both Arizona and California felt it was time to venture into a new association. Arizona and California members wanted the flexibility to address our unique regional differences and to align our events with industry standards and develop a program that could run concurrent with AQHA and other growing associations. Both wanting the ability to be creative and innovative with the program while maintaining the integrity of the Versatility Ranch Horse Competition that traditionally requires an All-Around well trained horse that can excel in multiple events.
In the fall of 2014 Arizona Versatility Ranch Horse Association in conjunction with Golden State Versatility Ranch Horse Association established Western States Versatility Ranch Horse Association to be a “parent” association for both states, with an eye on expanding to others western states as interest dictates.
